But an arm-rest is not a must-have item. I think some U.S. versions will come with them, or maybe they could be special-ordered. I originally planned on buying the Mazda 3 this year, but was pulled away by the Soul. The Soul won't handle as well, (it does very well on the skid-pad though) but it costs a lot less. I also don't really like the front of the new Mazda 3. One reviewer called it "hideous". Maybe not, but nowhere as cool looking as the Soul. If the Soul isn't equipped smartly, then it won't sell even with all of the other doo dads added. The Mazda3 is awesome...I would consider that model too if I were in the market for a sporty compact.
