Say “I Love You”
“I love you” – these three powerful words can do wonders to your relationship. Few people, if any, get tired of hearing how much they’re loved, so let your boyfriend or girlfriend know that you love them. As you say so, give them your full attention and make sure you mean what you’re saying.
Maintain Regular Date Nights
Relationships require one-on-one bonding and nourishment in order to stay healthy and strong. So, make an intentional choice to have regular non-negotiable date nights just for you and your partner. Going out regularly will provide you with the time you need to focus on each other and strengthen your love. If this is not possible due to cash problems, try doing things together within the college when both of you are free. This can be anything from taking a leisure walk within the school to watching a movie together.
Provide Honest and Meaningful Affirmations Regularly
Telling your girlfriend or boyfriend that he or she smells great is okay, but, an affirmation like, “You’ve done so much for me, I can never thank you enough” is more powerful and meaningful, and will surely make them feel loved, needed and appreciated. Affirmations come in all sizes and shapes, from emails, cards, notes, voice mails, to face-to-face communications. Choose what your partner loves most, and compliment them regularly.
Surprise Your Partner
Surprising your partner with romantic gestures is one of the surest ways to make them feel loved. If you are free and have some cash, pick them up from class (wait till the class ends) for a romantic dinner date out of campus. Alternatively, you can just buy them flowers or gifts when they least expect it. They will surely appreciate your efforts and return the love in equal measure.
Maintain Regular Communications While Away From Each Other
Your love doesn’t have to end because the semester has ended. Make a choice to maintain regular communications with your partner to keep your love alive. Call them up, leave a voice mail or text message, or send an email regularly to help strengthen your relationship. Be very careful not to make comments such as, “I’m really enjoying myself” even if it’s true. While you might see nothing wrong with such a comment, it may make your girlfriend or boyfriend who misses you feel like you’re better off without them. “I’m really missing you” or “I can’t wait for school to reopen so I can see you again’ works much better.
