10 Things Every College Student Should Do

10 Things Every College Student Should Do
  • Opening Intro -

College is the golden time of your life. For 4 years, you stay away from family, make new friends and gather a lot of knowledge - both academic and practical life.

-------------------------------------

Here are some things that will aid in making this time of your life memorable – plus adding lessons to your experience that will stay with you for a lifetime.

  1. Meet your teachers after the class hours. It is not abnormal to meet them after the college hours and seek their mentorship.

In fact, they will see you in a different light, they will understand you are serious about your academics. This can improve your GPA.

  2. It is easy to skip the classes but this doesn’t mean you should skip the class.
  3. If there is something in your college that you don’t like, take steps to change it. Contact the authorized person and request them for the change. This action builds character.
  4. Try getting as much experience as possible while you are still doing your studies. Do more than 1 internship. As soon as you complete one internship, get another internship and then yet another. When you are out of the college this will help you stand out from your class.
  5. Make proper use of student discounts available everywhere! Many companies like Apple and Microsoft offers a student discount. Also, most retailers and movie halls offer a discount. You may also use your student ID card a few years after your graduation 🙂
  6. Review sessions are MUST attend. Most of the times teachers will go over the things that are there on the test for that session, so why miss it?
  7. Make sure to call your parents often. You may think you are too busy to call them but you will be surprised how much good this will do to you too.
  8. The college might offer free things like a free club membership, free classes other than academic class, or health aids. Make use of those.
  9. While it is important to go home over the weekend. Spare some weekends to maintain ties with the new friends in your new life, don’t miss out on the fun. Balance both. When you look back you will not remember the exact grade you got in each subject but you will certainly remember the weekend you stayed up until the dawn with your friends.
  10. Last but not least, never burn the bridges. Make connections that will help you in your personal and professional life while you are still in the college.
