We’re here to give you some tips for making more money when selling old clothes!
Thoroughly Inspect Clothing
As you go through your closet to find clothing you want to sell, try not to throw just anything into your “sell” box (every trash is, in fact, not every man’s treasure). Inspect each clothing item to determine if it’s worth selling.
Try to imagine buying it from someone else—would you pay $10 for a shirt with tears and stains?
Take Quality Photos
The secret to providing a quality listing is to post quality photos. But that doesn’t mean you need to go out and buy a $1,000 professional ultra-mega 3,000 camera! You can use your phone to take nice photos of your clothing.
But keep in mind that it’s not all about the camera—you can play around with lighting, taking photos with different backgrounds, and more to make your clothing more enticing.
Offer Excellent Customer Service
Your consignment business will not be successful unless you offer your buyers excellent customer service.
As the seller, it’s important to respond quickly. If a buyer has a question about your listing, try to answer them as soon as you can—this may help boost your seller’s profile.
Provide Details in Your Listing
In addition to posting high-quality photos, you must provide as many details as you can about your items.
For example, if you’re selling a pair of ankle boots, you’ll want to describe them in the description along with the photos. What brand are they? What size? Are there any “wear and tear” signs?
Honesty is critical to running a successful resell business and making more money, as you’ll start to build trust within your customer base.
Use the Right App/Site
There are many apps and sites you can use to sell your old clothes. Try to find the right one for you and create your seller profile quickly and easily!
Stick to the Trends
When you sell old clothes that you don’t wear anymore, you’re giving them a second life! But not every item will sell as quickly as you want it to if it’s not on-trend with today’s fashion.
For example, vintage clothes are back in style! You can either check in your closet or even your parents’ closet (with their permission, of course) to see if they’d like to get rid of any clothing.
Let’s face it: college is expensive. But having side hustles can be a huge help for our finances and home organization! If you’re ready to start making the big bucks, follow the above tips for making more money when selling old clothes!
