Students seeking assistance with their college education are advised to familiarize themselves with the application process, applying before each deadline takes place.

Please click on the related links for information about these college scholarship opportunities. Pay special attention to the eligibility, essay and recommendation requirements for the respective opportunity.

Golden LEAF Scholarship — North Carolina private and public high school students are eligible to apply for one of 215 Golden LEAF Scholarships that will be awarded for the 2013-2014 academic year. The deadline is March 1, 2013. The awards, valued at $12,000 or $3,000 per year for up to four years, are for students planning to attend one of 57 public or private North Carolina colleges and universities.

Bob Fryer Memorial Scholarship For Outstanding Aspiring Journalists — The deadline for the 7th annual Bob Fryer Memorial Scholarship has been extended until Feb. 1, 2013. High school students living in one of 29 counties located in western Pennsylvania are eligible to apply. This award is for students that are pursuing a degree in journalism. The $5,000 award will be credited to the scholarship winner’s college or university account.

Illinois CPA Society Scholarship — The Illinois CPA Society is once again helping Illinois college students with accounting aspirations by offering multiple $2,000 college scholarships. Other scholarships ranging from $500 to up to $4,000 are also being offered. The deadline is April 1, 2013; students may apply for multiple scholarships.

Florida Realtors Education Foundation Inc. — The nonprofit Florida Realtors Education Foundation has announced that it plans to award college scholarships to Florida college-bound students that are considering a real estate related career. The scholarships, starting at $1,000, is for students that intend to work in the Sunshine State following graduation. The deadline for this year’s scholarship drive is Feb. 28, 2013.

U.S. Army Women’s Foundation — You have only until Feb. 1, 2013 to apply for the 2013 Legacy Scholarships awarded by the U.S. Army Women’s Foundation. The foundation seeks to help Army women and their lineal descendants by offering scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,500. Such awards take in a number of factors including academic potential, merit and community service.
