More patients than ever conduct research into doctor’s offices and clinics before they decide where to seek treatment.

They want a caring doctor, an organized office, and top-notch facilities that will offer them the best care available.

Beyond offering patient choice, efficient health care offices can save money and bring more revenue into the office by freeing up time. Check out this infographic by the University of Southern California Online to learn more about optimizing administration duties in the health care field.

Health care administrators need to have left- and right-brain capabilities to succeed at their jobs. On the left-brain side, they must be organized planners, communicate with staff effectively, manage record keeping, and fully understand billing procedures.

Then, on the right-brain side, they must solve problems quickly (and creatively), understand health care issues and industry changes, and constantly seek creative ways of bringing about office improvement. Those who continue to grow in both skills and education succeed in this field. It is not a job choice for those who rest on their laurels.

The minimum level of education for health care administrators is a bachelor’s degree, but many health care administrators pursue a master’s degree to qualify for high-level positions within the company.

Some do pursue a doctorate degree so as to work within the health care industry. These administrators will make high-level changes to the health care system. Despite differences in their education, most health care administrators have one thing in common: They all are passionate about their patients and want to see patients’ health improve by offering them the best treatment possible.
