All your good deeds and bad deeds meshed in a vast blob of nostalgia, a blob which you can only touch and can’t take apart. Something which you can only cherish a few years down the line, and have fond memories of.
But you know what? The end of college may not be such a bad deal after all. Real life only starts outside the comfortable
confines of a university campus. And if you were already making ends meet by working in cafes or doing small jobs, you already had a whiff of the real life. It’s time to embrace it, completely, unequivocally now.
Regular Job
The prospects may sound daunting. But the way becomes easier as you go. The cushion of a high paying job is the only end-goal
for some people.
It’s a worthwhile goal, and there is no harm in pursuing that. But get too involved in a job, and suddenly, 5 years later, you realize, there was so much you could have done besides making PowerPoint slides, attending early morning Hangout meetings, and late night calls with overseas sales and marketing team. What will you do then?
This brings us to our second, crucial point.
Vacation
Take a break! Getting a vacation after college is quite a sought-after option. Students are increasingly opting to save up
some money and travel the world. Traveling has a lot of advantages. A solo trip opens you up like anything. You begin to see the world differently.
Once you leave the privileged, cushioned environment of your home and venture into the wild, maybe the countryside, maybe a third-world country, you begin to have some perspective. The experience of interacting with other cultures, a rush of a different type of air, the spice and the tang of different food on your tongue; sounds fascinating right?
Experiment with your skill set
Once you graduate, you’ll see Darwin’s theory of Evolution at its naked, brutal best. Every day, there is a new skill in the market and it becomes imperative to become a jack of all trades as well as a master of one, maybe two. Yes, the competition outside is so fierce, it leaves you with no other option than to evolve.
Have fun
The above are just some of the options you can try after college. The important thing to remember is to have fun. Keep in touch with your friends, your family, and talk to your colleagues. Venture outside, socialize. Remember to chill out.
