  • Opening Intro -

College depression is also a real thing and young adults aging from 18 to 29 are often the most prone in having the sickness according to a study conducted back in 2014 by Childtrends.org.

College life can be an exciting and enjoyable experience to anyone and everyone. It can be a good learning experience on how to be responsible and independent adults especially for the ones living in dormitories.

As time passes and the workload starts to build up in the classrooms, tension and anxiety also rises for every student. The projects have to be finished on the time it was allotted, term papers have to be submitted to the teachers, and exams have to be passed to get the degree you are longing for. This creates an immeasurable amount of stress to students in which if they could not handle it would cause depression. So are you feeling a little depressed at college?

HOW TO KNOW IF SOMEONE HAS DEPRESSION

Depression, for a fact, is a real mental illness and anybody could be affected by it including household pets (mostly mammals). The people who suffer from this sickness has the tendency to be self-destructive or suicidal if it is left untreated.

Famous people like Robin Williams (1951-2014) and the Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington (1976-2017) and even the most recent DJ Avicii (1989-2018) have died in connection to depression. College depression is also a real thing and young adults aging from 18 to 29 are often the most prone in having the sickness according to a study conducted back in 2014 by Childtrends.org.

Below are the 4 most common signs and symptoms to know if someone is suffering from depression.

  • 1. FEELING SAD MOST OF THE TIME

It’s okay to feel sad every now and then but being sad or having that feeling of emptiness frequently is a definite sign someone is depressed.

  • 2. LOSS FOR APPETITE

When someone you know is not on a diet and yet they seem to change their eating habits for no apparent reason is another probable sign of this sickness. It never hurts to ask someone what they are feeling.

  • 3. SLEEPING PROBLEMS/OVERSLEEPING

The reason behind this is maybe because of overthinking on one subject matter that it becomes difficult to tolerate even when they are trying to sleep. The end result is that they oversleep or wake up later during the day

  • 4. CONSTANT COMPLAINTS OF BODY SICKNESS

Having a hard time making the pain go away in the simplest of health conditions like headaches and body pains would tell us something is bothering them other than physical pain like stress.

CONCLUSION

It is difficult to really know if someone is mentally depressed because it is invisible to the naked eye. Just like the famous people like Robin Williams and Chester Bennington. There were claims that they were still laughing and enjoying life to the fullest until it was heard on the news that they took their own lives.

If you know somebody who has this dangerous illness, go help them immediately or if you can’t, find someone who can. I would like to oblige you now to share this post on social media such as Facebook or Twitter so they can be aware of their loved ones and they could help them while it’s not too late.
