Summer camps are in abundance, beach trips are encouraged and with regular sunshine it’s easy to spend the day at the park. During the cooler months, however, it can be difficult to find ways to incorporate fun and fitness once school lets out. Consider these few tips that will help keep your family active during the chilly holiday season.

Sports Camps

Youth camps are not exclusive to the summer months; there are plenty of athletic camp opportunities that run year-round. There are many options available for popular sports such as holiday soccer camps and tennis getaways that will provide your child with both fun and adult guidance in the form of coaching.

Your child will be able to experience independence and be able to explore a new, positive environment among his or her peers while learning how to excel at his or her sport of choice.

Family Games

Organize regular family outings that involve physical activities. Make football at the park a weekly occurrence or organize an impromptu family walk around the neighborhood on nice days.

Depending on the age of your child, you can consider various games such as tag, hide-and-seek and Ultimate Frisbee. If your home allows it, you can place a basketball hoop in your driveway for regular basketball games.

Seasonal Marathons

There are many seasonal marathons that are set for different months during the colder parts of the year. Many are holiday-themed and offer an excellent opportunity for your family to do something together while getting in shape.

Do research into various marathon opportunities that are available for your family. Consider a short marathon if it is your family’s first time doing a marathon together to make sure the activity is doable for all participating family members.
