4 Things You Might Have to Replace on Your Car

4 Things You Might Have to Replace on Your Car
  • Opening Intro -

There are quite a few steps that you can take to protect and maintain your vehicle, but you will most likely have to replace at least a few parts over the years.

-------------------------------------

Replacing damaged or aging parts will help you avoid major mechanical problems and improve your vehicle’s safety while you are out on the road.

Battery

Even though modern vehicle batteries tend to be very durable, they all have a finite lifespan. There are also quite a few factors that can impact your battery’s lifespan or cause it to lose power constantly.

As a general rule, you can expect a high-quality car battery to last for three years as long as you regularly drive and maintain the vehicle. In a colder climate, a car battery could last for five years or longer.

Lights

Just like the lights in your home, your vehicle’s lights will need to be replaced at some point. Luckily, replacing auto bulbs is a relatively easy process in most vehicles, and that project should require nothing more than a few basic tools.

If you want your vehicle’s lights to last for as long as possible, then you should consider switching over to high-efficiency LED bulbs. Modern LED bulbs often last for 15,000 hours or longer in the right conditions.

Brake Pads

Your vehicle’s brake pads are vital to your safety, and those parts will need to be changed at least a few times over the years.

Some of the most common signs of failing brake pads include shuddering while you are stopping, veering when you apply the brakes, and a squealing sound whenever you are stopping at a light.

Brake pads can last for up to 65,000 miles, but some need to be changed as often as once every 20,000 miles.

Tires

Your tires must withstand an incredible amount of wear and tear over the years, and there will come a point when they must be completely replaced. In most areas, getting Nissan tires and tires from other popular manufacturers is a relatively simple process, and replacing them should take no more than a few minutes.

Once the tires are in place and you have driven a few miles, you should double-check the tire pressure as well as the torque on the wheel nuts.

Changing lights and other minor parts can typically be done with nothing more than a few basic tools and an owner’s manual. For mechanical parts, however, you will most likely want to head to a local mechanic who is experienced and reputable.
