Before we go on any further, let's start by defining what a snowflake is.
A snowflake is basically an insulting way of describing a young adult that's overly sensitive and feels entitled to consideration and special treatment.
This term is commonly used to refer to that person who until the 2000s was not an adult.
This group of oversensitive and entitled individuals is further defined as the snowflake generation. Most from other generations feel that this sense of entitlement the young adult of today has is a lost sense. This so called generation is obsessed with concentrating on the “why me?” question. Well, “why NOT you,” is what you should be asking. So, are you a campus snowflake? Below is how you can tell if you’re one.
1. THE FEELING OF ENTITLEMENT
If you’re having a bad day and feel you deserve a little break from school, work or wherever, solely because of the fact that you had a bad day/night then that is an example of entitlement.
If all year round you’ve been working really hard and feel you deserve higher pay at the end of it all, then that as well could be construed as entitlement.
Those may all seem like legitimate reasons that may deserve a little special treatment. However, the fact that you’re obsessed about your own life and how things aren’t working out for you, not considering how worse off someone else might be having it, is what makes it all entitlement. You’re never the only one in that sinking boat you’re in.
2. CONSTANT COMPLAINING
Are you constantly complaining about how everything in your life is going wrong or it’s not going how it should be? Or, are you’re blaming everyone else but yourself without looking for ways to help you solve the problem at hand? If you answered yes to these questions then, unfortunately for you, you might just be another snowflake.
This basically means that you’re the type that has constant problems with the basic things happening around you due to the fact that you feel everything should be moving smoothly because you’re involved.
3. YOU’RE ALWAYS ON EDGE
Is your switch always ready for flipping? Or, do you get riled up and irritated in a matter of seconds over small things that concern you? If so, then it means you might believe your purpose on this planet is greater than that of everyone else around you and that you’re special. That, friend, is total crap. Many other people are going through the same things you are and are equally as deserving as you. Your case is never a unique one.
All in all, we’re all just humans, life isn’t easy for all of us and we all make mistakes. None of us is special nor are we entitled to more than we’ve been given. You’re just another one of the seven billion human beings living on this pale blue dot in the galaxy called earth. So…are you a campus snowflake?
