Keep reading to find great tips for planning a school fall festival.
Choose a Theme and Answer Important Questions
Before you start organizing your fall festival, think about how big you want it to be, where you want to hold it, how you’ll fundraise, and what your theme will be. Whether you’re celebrating Oktoberfest, Halloween, or the Equinox, your theme can be as broad or as complex as you desire. You can then design your decorations and games around whatever theme you choose.
Ask Around for Volunteers
To get the festival off the ground, you should coordinate with various campus organizations and distribute flyers to recruit volunteers to assist with set up, ticket handling, phoning vendors, running events, cleaning up, and other tasks.
You’ll need a committed staff with leaders that can take command and guide everyone. Don’t forget to reward everyone for giving their time and energy by thanking them with treats or other benefits.
Lock In Food Vendors
The variety of food available at any festival is a major part of the fun. Send emails to nearby restaurants to gauge their interest in setting up booths, and coordinate with the college to see if their cafeteria or campus vendors are interested in setting up stations as well.
Your budget will determine the type of vendors you can acquire, but with a bit of persistence, you should be able to get at least a few food booths.
Grab Plenty of Decorations
You want people to feel like they’ve fallen into a fall wonderland with the number of seasonal decorations you place around the event. Gather as many fall mainstays as you can, such as pumpkins, hay bales, scarecrows, and anything warm in color.
You can easily obtain these decorations at local thrift and dollar stores, and you can then use them to adorn booths and walkways.
Organize Activities
Your event can be a positive experience for the entire community by including various games and activities for people of all ages. Typical activities you might consider are bake sales, mazes, arts and crafts, pumpkin carving, haunted houses, and chili cookoffs.
You should explore having live music or a DJ who can pump jams and look around for any other fun games and activities you can include as well.
Account for Hygiene and Restroom Needs
You should consider renting portable restroom trailers to position throughout the event to meet everyone’s bathroom demands without issue. It could also be a great idea to add handwashing stations to help keep people hygienic and safe during the event.
Emphasizing safety and addressing people’s needs will help protect students and ensure that everyone feels comfortable participating.
You can create a memorable occasion for everyone involved with these great tips for planning a school fall festival. The best part is that these festivals are an excellent opportunity to collect money for school organizations and charities while also having some fun.
