Despite a national drinking age of 21, alcohol is widely available across most of the nation’s campuses. Some schools such as Brigham Young University not only ban alcohol, but require students to adhere to an honor code. Violate the code and students can be disciplined or expelled.
The transition from high school to college is not always a smooth one. Quite frankly, leaving the secure and known environment of home and stepping into the greater world can be eye-opening, even quite unnerving.
Ideally, students will start and finish their undergraduate work at the same school, enjoying the familiarity, consistency, and the security of attending one school. There is something to be said about student and faculty relationships that are built over four years, what can provide a lifetime of mutually satisfying support.
