Are You Bowled Over Or Not?

College football, particularly what used to be known as Division 1-A football but what now falls under the forgettable name of Bowl Championship Series, has expanded over the years to include no fewer than 34 bowl games this year. That’s right, the Cotton, Rose, Sugar, Orange and Fiesta bowls aren’t the only games out there, as these days bowls are held all over the country with even Toronto, Canada getting into the mix.

Worse, few bowls have their original name anymore with the sponsor featured first followed by the bowl’s name, if even that. Thus, when you tune in to the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl on December 23rd to watch Boise State take on Texas Christian, you’ll have to hope that the announcers don’t keep repeating the full name of the bowl throughout the game.

In case you haven’t seen the list of participating schools, the following list published by USA Today is a good place to start. Sure, some of the contests are real yawners, but then again if your school is represented, you know which bowl games will rock your world beginning on December 20th.
