6 Sports Medicine College Programs

Athletic training at the collegiate level.

Sports-minded college students considering their medical matriculation options need only look to the area of sports medicine for a rewarding career. Athletic trainers as well as those working in the allied health and medical fields are needed, people who are educated in pharmacology, nutrition, athletic training, assessment and other areas of expertise.

Certified athletic trainers don’t work with athletes only though they are ever present on the football gridiron, basketball court and professional soccer field. Anyone who is involved in a sporting activity and has been injured may be seen by an athletic trainer as well as a physician.

There are a number of colleges and universities across America offering sports medicine training including the following six schools:

Savannah, GA 31419

Notes: Offering a Masters in Sport Medicine, Armstrong’s program allows students to select one of two areas of emphasis: Strength and Conditioning (nutrition, ergogenic aids, strength & conditioning, performance evaluation), or Advanced Athletic Training. The schools says that a “Master of Science in Sports Medicine can lead to careers in athletic training, professional strength and conditioning, coaching, sports nutrition, worksite fitness and safety, and sports psychology.”
