Capella University Receives Military Friendliness Recognition

Members of America’s Armed Forces as well as military veterans often prove to be eager students when it comes to pursuing a college degree. These students are looking at their lives beyond the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard, with a keen understanding that academic preparation can smooth their transition back to civilian life.

Military Friendly

Some colleges and universities seem to go out of their way to welcome servicemen and women, by providing a welcoming and friendly environment for students. Capella University, an accredited online university, is one such school receiving some well deserved recognition as a military-friendly institution of higher education.

For the fourth consecutive year, Military Advance Education magazine has recognized Capella University as a Top Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities Honoree, basing their decision on feedback from students, degree programs and the school’s military-friendly policies. Capella University boasts a team of dedicated military support specialists who help guide students serving our country.

Capella Kudos

Following the announcement of the school’s reward Nicole Lovald, manager of military affairs for Capella University said, “This is a testament to Capella’s steadfast commitment to supporting military servicemembers and their families. We’re proud to support the military and to receive this honor for the fourth consecutive year.” Lovald herself is a spouse of a servicemember.

Though the Military Advance Education award is certainly welcome by Capella University, it isn’t the only recognition the school has received regarding its military-friendly policies. One example is “The Next Mission,” a documentary inspired by the Capella University study “Joining Forces America” about the mental health needs of members of the military returning from combat duty. For that media event, the school received a regional Emmy award.

In addition, the university has been recognized by the Minnesota National Guard and Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty as a Yellow Ribbon organization for its support of military servicemembers and military family members.
