CHS Foundation Announces College Scholarship Initiative


It isn’t too early to apply for scholarships if you are planning to attend college in the fall. In fact, some college scholarship deadlines have already passed.

But, don’t fret — you are not too late — we’ve been tracking a number of announcements made by foundations, companies and organizations in recent days and will be bringing some of these to you this month and next. As always, check out our scholarship search page for a variety of opportunities and print out your free tally sheet to keep track of your awards.

CHS Foundation

The CHS Foundation will be awarding 50 $1,000 high school scholarships to students planning to study agriculture at a two or four-year college and 25 $1,000 two-year college scholarships to first-year agricultural students attending a two-year college.

“CHS and the CHS Foundation are committed to investing in the future of agriculture and rural America through education and leadership development,” says William Nelson, president, CHS Foundation. “By offering these scholarships, we help educate and prepare tomorrow’s leaders in production, science, technology and business agriculture.”

March 15 Deadline

The application deadline for scholarships is March 15, 2011. An independent, external committee will select scholarship recipients based on essays, transcripts and reference letters. For eligibility information and application forms, students should visit the University Partnerships section of the CHS Foundation website.

The CHS Foundation also offers four-year university scholarships for students currently working toward an agricultural-related degree. Visit the CHS Foundation website for application information and a list of participating universities.

Getting Prepared

As with any college scholarship opportunity, applicants should familiarize themselves with the requirements, by determining their eligibility, what documentation is needed, and planning to get everything in prior to the March 15, 2011 deadline.
