Tell the world about your accomplishment!
Announcements have changed, but not the desire for people to let it be known that they’ve finished their studies and have secured a degree.
The digital age has changed the way that we communicate with each other, but when it comes to finishing college some of the old ways are worth exploring too. Please read on for ways for you (or someone you know) to tell the world that you have graduated.
1. Announcement — You can still send out an announcement via regular mail that you have finished college. If you feel odd doing this, your parents may relish the opportunity to make the announcement on your behalf. Essentially an announcement can go like this: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones are proud to announce that their daughter, Celeste, has received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Private College on May 11. Robert earned highest honors, was a member of the college’s debate team and volunteered as a teacher through his church. Robert plans to attend Private University this fall in preparation of becoming a C.P.A.
2. Newspaper — Who reads newspapers? A lot of people, especially online. If your town still has a local newspaper that is delivered weekly, check out its announcement section for what is included there. Weddings, births, deaths and milestones may be part of the mix. Contact the right editor to learn what the requirements are to run your announcement. Expect to pay a fee for this service, something that is well worth it for the attention you’ll receive. You’ll receive a hard copy of your announcement and will likely find an online copy to share as well.
3. Facebook — Don’t be shy here. You’ve been telling EVERYONE over the past few weeks that you’ve put the finishing touches on your term papers and have knuckled down to do your best on your finals. Use Facebook and your other social media favorite sites to proclaim your accomplishment and be prepared to field many comments and see multiple likes.

4. Blog — If you are an active blogger, your readers will certainly want to know about your accomplishment. Write a post and include pictures of your graduation ceremony and tell a story to include the information mentioned earlier in the first option. You’ll get plenty of comments from your loyal readers, enabling them to congratulate you for a job well done.
Some people may feel that they are bragging and will want to forego the announcement. Still, you’ve poured years into your study and now have reached a milestone others would be interested in knowing about. So, tell them!
