Most of that aid is quickly awarded to deserving students, including those that apply for assistance. The following is our list of currently open college scholarships, each with a deadline as early as February 2013.

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program — General Motors’ premium brand began sponsoring the GM Foundation’s scholarship program in 2011. It returns for a third year with two award levels offered: renewable national scholarships for up to $25,000 per year and one-time scholarships of $2,000 each. The application must be submitted electronically by 5:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, on Feb. 28, 2013.
CHS Foundation Scholarships — High school seniors with a desire to pursue an agricultural-related major in college may be eligible to receive one of nearly 150 $1,000 scholarships from the CHS Foundation. The foundation is part of the CHS energy company, with students applying to select colleges eligible for this award. The deadline to apply this year is April 1, 2013.
Microsoft Scholarship — Computer science majors and those pursuing a technical career can apply to one of four college scholarship programs from Microsoft. The deadline is fast approaching — Feb. 1, 2013 — with full tuition coverage offered for one academic year. To be eligible, you will also need to apply for a 12-week paid summer internship in Redmond, Wash.
Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation — You have until Feb. 11, 2013 to apply for one of 60 to 65 Truman Scholarships awarded each year. This highly competitive scholarship requires students to be nominated by their undergraduate institution. A faculty representative or an onsite Truman Nomination Committee at your college can pave the way for you to apply. Recipients will attend the Truman Scholar Summer Institute in Washington, D.C.
Lowe’s Scholarship Program — Each year, the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation awards approximately $600,000 in college scholarships to students across the country. Two groups of scholarships are awarded annually: the Lowe’s Scholarship provides $2,500 scholarships for up to 140 students. The Carl Buchan Scholarship provides $5,000 scholarships for up to 50 students. The deadline to apply is Feb. 28, 2013.
Google Lime Scholarship Program — Current college students with a disability and majoring in computer science or computer engineering are invited to apply for this Google-sponsored scholarship. Awards of up to $10,000 for one year are given and recipients are invited to attend the yearly Google Scholars’ Retreat. The deadline is Feb. 18, 2013, at midnight PST.
Scholarship Tips
