You may feel that your job prospects are hopeless without a college education. You may not have any formal job training either. But there is still another way, and that is through a RTO’s nationally recognized training’s online courses.
A RTO is a registered training organization, commonly known as RTOs in Australia. ARC Training is just one example of a RTO. They currently serve in the NSW and QLD areas, and are also growing in the VIC and SA areas as well.
In the US and Europe they are more commonly known as vocational education and training centers, or VETs.
There are many career development organizations nowadays that offer nontraditional education alternatives. But just how reliable, trustworthy, and useful are they? That is what we’ll be covering in this article.
Reliable
RTOs provide reliable alternatives to the traditional college education. These alternatives may include:
- Online E-Learning
- Group training
- Recruitment opportunities
A RTO can offer quality nationally recognized training courses in many different subject areas. It may also offer group training services to provide for more specific needs in the community. For example, ARC specializes in helping school leavers who want to start a career in business.
Naturally, RTOs tend to attract companies and employers from various different industries. Certain RTOs have a structure setup to work with different companies and employers to recruit promising new talent. Or in other words, a RTO can be the perfect way to get your foot in the door.
Trustworthy
In Australia, all RTOs and the qualifications they are registered to deliver are listed on training.gov.au. They may be privately owned or government owned organizations. Since RTOs are supported by the AU government, you can rest assured that it’s a legitimate alternative to a formal college education.
Depending on location and the specific training offered, quality assurance is backed by one of the following regulatory bodies:
- the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA)
- the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA), or
- the Training and Accreditation Council (TAC)
These regulatory bodies perform routine audits on these organizations, ensuring that all RTOs comply with the VET Quality framework
Usefulness
Many people are still stuck in the traditional mindset of vocational education being inferior to college education. That’s because, until the end of the 20th century, vocational education focused on specific trades such as automobile mechanic. As a result, it was mostly associated with the lower class workers.
But this is no longer the case. Nowadays labor markets are more focused and higher skilled labor is required, which is why governments and businesses are investing in RTOs and VETs.
Along with high skill in a trade comes high dedication as well as practical experience. A RTO certification shows both to a prospective employer.
Companies today are not looking for passive learners, but rather active learners who know what they need to accomplish and then go after it with the passion and drive required.
It’s this kind of take-charge attitude that will land you the dream job of tomorrow.
