5 Ways to Keep Up Your College Habits in the Summertime

5 Ways to Keep Up Your College Habits in the Summertime
  • Opening Intro -

Everyone knows that feeling when you walk out of your last exam of the year and feel a sense of freedom.

You think to yourself that you have a few months to do what you want and recharge your batteries.

-------------------------------------

Part of you doesn’t even want to think about another textbook or study session until the fall session. But how much more effective would you be if you kept up some of those college habits throughout the summer?

While you’re in school you develop some really strong habits that you take into the workforce to be successful. Just because you haven’t officially left college yet, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t start using some of those habits to your benefit.

Here are five things you can do this summer to keep up those college habits and set yourself up for your fall session.

1. Get a Summer Job

Many students do this but many do not. Getting a summer job helps you keep up that high productivity level you had to maintain throughout the school year. It involves getting up in the morning, managing your time, and building your skill set.

Summer jobs also don’t have to be something terrible. You could get creative and find a job that allows you to work remotely, which could result in you working from a beach or family cottage. You could also get a serving job that allows you to be working on a patio while getting some sunshine.

2. Plan Out Your Days

Keep up the habit of planning out your days and making lists of things you need to get done. If you’re someone who needed to stay organized throughout the school year to get all your work done, then do this outside of school as well.

Some things you could plan include your work schedule, your meals, when to do laundry, plans to hang out with friends, and much more. Give yourself a sense of accomplishment and consistency. By keeping up this habit you won’t have to go through a readjustment period when your fall session starts, the habit will simply still be there.

3. Learn Something New

It’s always good to learn something new everyday. It keeps your brain stimulated and it keeps things interested. Not to mention it provides great conversation. The most important thing is that it combats boredom, which can lead to a loss of productivity.
