Looking Back: Fab Five Posts For 2008

-------------------------------------

First of all, many thanks to everyone who has stopped by SayCampusLife.com to check out what we’re all about. 2008 was our first full year (we celebrated our Fivefirst anniversary on December 15th) and we’re pleased by the interest that this site is generating. Early on we had some problems with the comments working, but ended up changing the theme and tweaking with the code to make things easier on everyone.

Second of all, some bloggers like to provide some sort of wrap up for the year just about now and we’re doing the same. Although there is still a week left in this fast ending year, we’ve identified five fabulous articles over the past year which have generated a lot of interest. We think our list will hold up for the remainder of the year so we give to you SayCampusLife’s Fab Five Posts For 2008:

PSAs Encourages College Students To Control Their Debt — It must have been the ad that attracted everyone to this article as it received the top visits for 2008 by a landslide. Produced for the Ad Council, Capiche urges students to make sure that their credit history is in excellent shape before applying for a job. Bad credit can keep you from landing that ideal position!

Fun & Wacky College Scholarships You Never Knew About — People like lists so our feature listing some of the crazy college scholarship opportunities out there certainly got noticed. Not everyone can speak Klingonese, so I guess with a student comes along who is well versed in all things Star Trek he or she should be rewarded, right? Right?!

An Easy $300 For College Students — Show me the money, you said! Well, it wasn’t like we were pushing a scam or something. Instead, we urged students to make sure that they got their share of the economic stimulus package signed into law earlier in the year.

Dorm Free, But Furnishings Are Needed — We offered advice on where and how students could get furniture for their dorm room (or apartment) and you took us up on it. I guess that proves students welcome practical tips especially if the top tip doesn’t involved dumpster diving!

Studying Abroad Can Give You An Edge — A big part of the college experience is studying abroad and we like to think we helped a few students explore this option for themselves. Expect that “studying abroad” will become a normal part of many college’s curriculum in the future.

That’s it — our synopsis of the top five reads on this site for 2008. Thanks again for stopping by and may 2009 be the year that you advance your academic dreams.
