Fab 5 Articles For 2010

-------------------------------------

The best of SayCampusLife.com from last year.

Happy New Year! We here at SayCampusLife.com want to thank you for following us in 2010 and invite you to enjoy many happy returns in 2011. Quite a few stories got your attention last year, therefore we’ve decided to revisit our “fab five” posts for 2010:

1. 15 Way Cool Social Networking Sites You Never Heard Of – Sometimes your pillar post hits, sometimes its fizzles. This article was a big hit and continues to send traffic our way daily. It seems readers are fascinated with discovering new social media sites, perhaps they are bored with Twitter and Facebook and not wanting to be lost in the crowd.

2. Essay Contests For High School Students – Our feature articles on college scholarships and grants are well received, but this piece about essay contests seems to have struck a responsive chord. Students may be getting ready for college, but if writing an essay gives them the chance to earn some money to help defray those costs, then why not? Each contest has ended, so it looks like we’ll need to come out with an updated list for 2011….

3. Book Review: Debt-Free U – Could it be that people actually read our book reviews?! Seriously, this book offers very good advice about a topic that concerns most of us: how to pay for college. Zac Bissonnette offers tips on how to save thousands of dollars on tuition costs and avoid many years of trying to pay back student loans.

4. 7 Hot Online Jobs For College Students – It makes sense that college students would be interested in working online. After all, this generation grew up with the Internet and doesn’t know a time in their lives when people were not connected online. We think the appeal of this post had a lot to do with students wanting to earn money on the side without having to deliver pizza or be committted to some other hourly job.

5. Conference Realignment: New Midwestern Conference Could Emerge – Our regular feature of sports articles gets your attention, but it was rumor of a huge midwestern sports conference forming which got students on summer break thinking about the possibilities. Conference realignment did happen, but the changes weren’t as dramatic as we suggested. Yet, Nebraska’s move to the Big Ten forced other schools to take action, shaking up “business as usual” in the world of major college football.

Happy 2011 to you and yours!
