If you are a sophomore or higher and your grades haven’t been the best in the past, it’s not too late to get your grades up to college-level worthiness. Make a huge effort to turn your grades around. Even if you have to stay after-school for help or get tutoring, it will be worth it.

2. Do some volunteer work, get a part-time job, or join an after-school club.

Colleges like to see that students can multitask. A student who can keep their grades up while juggling a school club and a job is one who would fit right in on campus.

Volunteering for a good cause in your area shows that you are all about being a part of a community and that you’re a good, wholesome person. This is the type of person they look for to represent their school.

The reason why volunteering or being a part of something is important in the college application process is because it shows colleges your character and personality.

Do whatever it takes to perfect that essay because it will be a first impression of you as a potential student

4. Don’t go through the process alone.

You’ve never been to college so it’s okay if you don’t know how to navigate the process. That’s what parents, teachers, and guidance counselors are for. Guidance counselors are a great resource for college admissions advising.
