How I Shined Academically in College

I saw college as this once in a lifetime opportunity to prepare for a cool career, cross that bridge between teen and adult stage and finally take perfect control of my life.

The truth is, college became more fun when I applied the following tips to make sure my academics were all running smooth.

1) Establishing academic goals at the beginning of each semester

I used to list what I wanted to achieve. I used to set targets like a specific grade point. These targets are good for your success because they keep you focused and streamline your academics.

2) Staying on top of assignments

With nobody pressuring me to do assignments, it was easier to postpone. I made sure to mark assignment deadlines in the calendar and have them cleared in time. Professors usually have zero tolerance to failure to hand in assignments.

3) Establishing an efficient study routine

I personally used to set aside 4 hours early in the morning for personal study. And 3 hours in the day for group study. This turned out to be the best way to get more accomplished academically.

4) Knowing your strengths and weaknesses

We are all different in what we are good or bad at. Knowing who you really are is so important. What moves you? From my college experience, focusing more on exploiting my strengths was a nice way to make sure my weaknesses didn’t bring me down.

5) Making friends with professors

Just like in life, being close with experienced adults like your professors is a safe way to ensure that you get the best career advice from an expert. 3 of my professor friends were very helpful in choosing classes and getting internship placements.

6) Having a study buddy in each class

In addition to your best friend, it’s nice to have somebody you compare lecture notes with. It’s the best way to make sure no academic matter slips your attention.

7) Having an efficient time management system

How we spend our 24 hours may be the difference between surviving and thriving in college academics. With the help of a basic calendar or time scheduling app, I marked important deadlines and dates. This empowered me to handle extra-curricular activities like sports in a way that didn’t destroy my academics.

8) Taking advantage of college resources

Colleges have resources that you will have to pay highly for in the outside world. Resources like the library, unlimited internet, workshops and so much more. I made very good use of them.

9) Working hard and playing hard

As the saying goes, “work without play makes jack a dull boy”. In addition to clearing all the academic necessities. I didn’t forget to have fun. Go out on dates. Play a sport. Go for parties. This helped me come back fresh to academics.

To wind up, the above tips on college living, sports, campus life and more can help you too shine academically in college. Good luck with that record breaking academic success in college!
