There are many options available to further education and increase income potential.
Online Classes
Online classes offer the convenience of going to college for some who may not be able to easily access home care for children or other family members. Classes are take online just as though it is in a classroom and assignments and tests are also assigned. Work can be completed when it’s convenient and sometimes, lectures can be available at different times or days to meet varying schedules. Like community colleges, they have programs that can lead to 2, 4 year degrees. Many online universities even offer post graduate studies.
Smaller Private Universities
Smaller private universities are more academic orientated than community colleges. These types of higher education schools may be more expensive, but have generous scholarship funding available. The class sizes tend to be smaller and specialization in health care, business, fine art and humanities are often featured.
2-Year Colleges
Community Colleges can be a great segue, or smooth transition, to higher education. It can be helpful if coming right from high school or years after completing high school or a GED. Some colleges offer smaller class sizes than big universities. They often have easy access for additional help with professors and counselors for directional training. Community colleges offer more diverse classes that can easily be transitioned or transferred to four year colleges by awarding an associate’s degree at study’s end. Trade Schools
Trade schools teach students to learn and work in certain specific jobs such as plumbing and auto mechanics, auto body and air conditioning services. These schools are focused on learning one particular job without too much focus on individual and extensive classes.
Technical Schools
Technical schools tend to be focused on teaching jobs more geared to more specific and scientific based learning such as electronic or mechanical technology. Schools that have programs for medical and nursing assistant can fall into this category as well. These jobs require some college level classes, but focus on the job skills needed for the specific topic of study.
There are several ways to continue education and ensure obtaining good paying jobs for a successful career outside of big universities. Once obtained, education is never wasted or lost.
