Studying abroad is a dream for many college students.

It doesn't have to remain a dream.

Many schools around the country offer study-abroad programs, where you can study and live in cities like Paris, London or Jerusalem for months. Below are five schools with some of the best study abroad programs in the world, where students can turn their dreams into a beautiful reality.

1. University of Portland

Study in Australia, Spain, Ireland, Austria, Italy, or England with the University of Portland’s study abroad program. Students who travel overseas through Portland’s plan can earn between twelve and eighteen credits in session and explore various historical sights off school grounds.

Those who choose to study in Salzburg, Austria, have the benefit of a traditional campus within walking distance from the railway. Students can attend classes in the morning and travel to various regions in Europe by train throughout the day without going out of their way to tour the continent.

2. University of Dallas

Take a break from the big city in Texas to study abroad in Rome. The University of Dallas’ twelve-acre campus is in the southeastern part of Rome, where the ancient city originated. Because you’re in the heart of the city, you don’t have to go far to see historical sites.

See where everything began, and walk where Popes have walked. The campus even has a five-acre vineyard that is simply amazing. In addition to taking classes that focus on European civilization, students have the opportunity to tour archaeological sites and museums in Rome as well as take trips to Greece and Northern Italy throughout the semester abroad.

3. University of Chicago

The Center in Paris is the University of Chicago’s hub for students and faculty in the school’s overseas learning program. The center has strong roots in European culture but offers courses in more than just the region’s civilization. Students who study in Paris with the University of Chicago can take classes in humanities as well as social, natural and physical sciences. More than 200 students choose to study abroad at the Center in Paris every year.

4. University of St. Thomas

Business students rejoice! The University of St. Thomas has a study abroad program at its London location specifically for business majors with courses that cover history, traditions, culture, economy, and politics for Great Britain and the European Union. The program is an excellent choice for students who plan to engage in international business affairs during their careers.

5. Boston University

Few schools offer broad overseas programs that cover a variety of concentrations and subjects, but Boston University is one of the few that does. The University has overseas programs in 30 cities on six continents, so students have many options when it comes to where they wish to study abroad.

Paris, London, and Sydney are three of the many major cities Boston University has overseas campuses in. Students have the choice of studying in fields like language, liberal arts, science, business, and engineering.

If you’re in college and want to travel, see if you can get into a study abroad program at your university. There’s no better time than now to experience the world and all it has to offer. Continue your education while learning abroad.
